Laparoscopic Instrument Repair & Maintenance

With so many manufacturers creating a wide range of surgical instruments, it can be difficult to find the right service and repair company for those instruments. Kinney Surgical offers preventative maintenance (PM) for every type of surgical instrument including all types of laparoscopic instruments. This type of maintenance focuses on prolonging the lifespan of your instruments and preventing instrument failure while in the operating room.  When you choose Kinney Surgical for your laparoscopic instrument maintenance and repair you’ll only pay for what you actually need repaired (no large, flat rate fees).

Our qualified technicians will offer explanations of the repairs and share detailed reports and photos from the master technician that worked on your laparoscopic instruments. Through our extensive QC process we’ll test each instrument to determine which parts need replacement or refurbishment. We are able to manufacture and replace any parts needed which allows for a faster turn-around time. At Kinney Surgical we’ll use microscopes to inspect every instrument and our top of the line testing procedures will help us to determine if parts need to be replaced or refurbished. We believe in utilizing the tried and true OEM manufacturing processes for maintenance and repairs instead of cutting corners or trying newly developed methods that have no proven track record of long term success. Our inspection process can even detect items that may need to be repaired before failure.

What do we repair on laparoscopic instruments?

When we repair a laparoscopic instrument, there are many items to consider. Whether it is the handle and shaft insulation, rotators, ratchets, or even electrical posts, we understand how these critical components can have an impact on the effectiveness of your equipment and cause road blocks when you’re treating a patient. To assess the equipment for the repairs needed, our qualified technicians perform an intensive multipoint testing procedure that includes these 6 main areas that are likely to show the most wear and decreased functionality over time.

A: Handle and Shaft Insulation

B: Jaw Alignment, Refurbishment or Replacement: Under a high-power microscope, we’ll identify weaknesses in links and pins around jaws normally unseen, and repair cracks even before they develop.

C: Rotators: We will adjust rotators to the proper tension prior to failure and rebuild or replace as necessary.

D: Electrical Posts Replacement

E: Repair Ratchet Alignment or Repair: We will realign the ratchets to their maximum efficiency.

F: Flush Ports: We will clean the flush ports to extend their lifespan and improve their functionality.
